A truly elegant French Art Nouveau rug, characterized by a light yellow background filled with roses arranged on long stems which branch out to its sides and corners. The transition seen here from the formal, Rococo revival motifs of the late 19th century Napoleon III style towards the more progressive forms of Art Nouveau is what distinguishes this unique rug from either styles. A great example of early 20th century French weaving in pristine condition.
