Vintage Design
Very rare and highly collectable, early 19th century circa 1820-1840, hand carved wingback armchair with Thomas Chippendale, fretwork carved legs A very important piece, possibly made in the workshops of Chippendale or by a former employee, the quality of the carving to the legs is hard to believe, there looks to be an ornately turned leg encased inside the fretwork carved external shell which makes up to form a very beautiful finished article, this was designed by Chippendale and is known as Chinese Chippendale This chair is in fine order throughout, the upholstery is free from marks, the cushion is feather filled and very comfortable The timber has been waxed and polished, it has a lovely vintage worn patina all over that you can only achieve through honest age and fair use.
